Fearless Books is an independent publisher, located in Berkeley, California, and founded in 1997 by D. Patrick Miller.[1]
Fearless Books comprises several divisions, including its Fearless Poetry Series which is run by co-editors D. Patrick Miller and Sari Friedman, and it publishes spiritually-themed paperbacks along with e-books in every format, using two digital distributors (Smashwords and Overdrive) to disseminate digital versions of its print books.[2]
Two notable titles from Fearless Books include The Disappearance of the Universe by Gary Renard, a worldwide bestseller,[1] and TOUCHING: Poems of Love, Longing, and Desire (a recipient of two 2011 Next Generation Indie Book Awards prizes: winner of the Anthology category, and Second Place Grand Prize in the Non-Fiction category[3][4][5]).

The Fearless Poetry Series comprises a series of poetry anthologies. The series was launched in 2009, showcasing distinctive and compelling new voices in contemporary poetry.[1] Each anthology in the series focuses on a theme.[1] The first volume was The Light in Ordinary Things.[6] TOUCHING: Poems of Love, Longing, and Desire was the second volume.[7]
All submissions to the series are evaluated on merit alone since the submissions are read and evaluated by staff without knowing anything about the poet, such as name, race, gender, religion, political affiliation, credentials, or any previous publishing history of any poet.[8] The eBook version of Volume Two also won First Prize in Poetry in Dan Poynter's 2011 Global eBook Awards. Sari Friedman has stated that by selecting on merit alone, the result is a collection of poems of unusual power and distinction.[1]
D. Patrick Miller is a scholar of A Course in Miracles and President of the Northern California chapter of the American Society of Journalists and Authors.[9] Miller also publishes with mainstream publishers; his titles include The Way of Forgiveness (originally titled A Little Book of Forgiveness, Viking), Understanding a Course in Miracles (Ten Speed Press/Random House), and the recently published Living with Miracles (Tarcher/Penguin).[10] Miller is often interviewed and gives seminars on the advantages of independent versus traditional publishing, and on mistakes novice novelists and memoir-writers often make.[11]
Sari Friedman won an award from The Writers' Voice for the New Voice In Fiction category, and was also nominated for both the Pushcart Prize and the GE Younger Writer's Award.[12] She is a novelist and poet who earned an MFA in Fiction from Columbia University.[12] In addition to editing, she continues to publish in magazines and anthologies. She was the first wife of Dr. Peter Hotez.
